I needed a scoop for chicken feed, because I was tired of using an old mandarin orange can. I needed something that would scoop more than 3/4 cup at a time. So I bought this:
And then I got it home and realized I couldn’t let my son see it before peeling off the sticker.
Why, you may ask?
Because it said “dog food scoop” on it.
One thing about these Spectrum kids: They’re rule keepers. If it doesn’t say Chicken Food Scoop, it is NOT for chicken food. I just didn’t want to have a 20 minute argument conversation about the flexibility of scoops with my 12 year old son.
Some Spectrum kids also make up their own rules for things, and get upset when we (who don’t live in their heads) don’t follow their rules. The rules we didn’t know existed. Um. Yeah.

My 13yr old son used to drive us crazy with things like this. He is a stickler for rules and accuracy. He’s mellowed a bit but now he’s correcting us about the time. If we say it’s 3:30 and it’s actually 3:27, we are going to be in for a scowl and a correction. I have explained that generally people round time to the nearest 10-15 min but he just looked at me like I had lost my mind and with complete confused irritation asked “Why?”. *sigh* My mantra is baby steps…baby steps…baby steps.
Oh Reba, I can SO relate on the time accuracy! We get corrected on even a single minute. I love my son, but sometimes. Sigh. lol 😀
It’s the rules in his head that make me crazy!
YES!!! I hear you loud and clear! I have actually explained to my son that sometimes his rules are stricter than “The Rules” for whatever we/he is doing and that he needs to follow the right set of rules. Sometimes it helps. 🙂
