This will be the THIRD time I will begin to homeschool D1 and D2.
E has agreed to let me pull the boys and homeschool them. D1 will continue with his 2 hours a day of resource room, although the logistics of that aren’t totally worked out yet.
I was planning on getting it all set up today/tomorrow, so we could start it all when school starts back up after vacation… however, since our entire city is buried in TWO FEET OF SNOW, the whole school district is shut down and I probably won’t find any one to confirm for me that it’s set to go.
That’s okay, I know that it will be. I will file my Intent to Homeschool at the school district on Jan. 2nd, and go from there.
In the meantime, I ordered the BrainWare Safari processing program for D1, and Handwriting Without Tears for both boys. D1 gets cursive because I know it will help his writing smooth out and become consistent, and he’s in third grade so he has begun a little cursive anyway.
D2 gets “Letters and Numbers for Me“, which is the Kindergarten program, but his fine motor skills are SO bad still…. he will really benefit from using the shaded boxes for numbers and capitals, and the slow easy practice of the large printing. Thankfully, these don’t have grade levels written on the covers. 😉 Just don’t tell him!
Eventually, I will order them both the next levels of Math U See.
Both boys still have their books (Primer & Beta) although they are nearly completed. Those will get us by for a few weeks, until I can get the new ones. We order through Polished Apple over on the coast, and they are usually phenominally FAST… Last time I received our books 24 hours after I ordered them, and I didn’t pay for expedited shipping! That’s what I call service.
I have pretty much everything we need.
Besides for a few books I need to have bound (or printed and bound) for minimal expense, I’ve got it figured out. I want to print out a spelling notebook for D1 and a Book of Centuries for us to share. The library will fill in anything else we need.
This is back to basics homeschooling.
The Lord gave me this chance again, and I will not veer from His course this time!
