As you can see, we’re pretty much buried! My husband plowed the driveway so he could get out, although he’s only going into work for a couple of hours. I sent him with a grocery list, because I’m definitely NOT going anywhere today! He took a tape measure out into the yard, and measured 20″ of snow in the front & back yards. It is still snowing, so who knows what we’ll end up with. The news are reporting this is THE RECORD for 24 hour snowfall (17″ in a 24 hour period.)
UPDATE Jan. 2, 2009:
Since I originally posted this, we have received 42 INCHES of snow. Inches. Yep. UGH. Yesterday I saw three young guys who were obviously being paid to chop ICE out of the entrance to Starbuck’s and the Verizon store. Ice. Two FEET of it, to be exact. The weather we’ve had is just unreal. Two days in the past week it has warmed up (over 40!) and everything began melting. Then it dropped down to under 10 degrees at night, froze all the melted stuff, and then snowed another foot. Yes, this is definitely the WEIRDEST winter we have ever had. The news is constantly updating the “Record Snowfall” totals. I heard there is something like 170″ in the mountains now, which is totally unheard of for this early in the ski season. WILD.
Can I go back to Morro Bay now? I’m all done with winter, thankyouverymuch.
