I checked the parent resources site online to see how much lunch money my high schoolers have left in their accounts, and while I was there I looked at all of the info available about my kids. I’ve blogged before about the bully on the bus and other things our son D1 has had to deal with. Kids know he’s different, and they don’t understand why he is the way he is. Many are not kind. Here is what is written in his permanent record in regards to discipline:
Grade Incident Date Incident Title
03 2008-11-04 Bus Conduct
02 2008-03-14 Assaults or Threats
01 2007-05-18 Malicious Mischief/Vandalism
01 2007-05-17 Bus Conduct, Disruptive Conduct
CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS?? I CANNOT! I am going to show it to my husband. My son has had to deal with bullying because he is developmentally delayed. It takes him a VERY long time to realize when someone is being unkind. He doesn’t read body language or vocal tone or inflection. You have to get in his face and be downright mean in order for him to realize something is going on. He stood up for himself against a bully, and he is the one who got in trouble for it. It sickens me and it makes my blood boil to see this written in his records. The 1st and 2nd grade incidents were all his dealing with the kid who was bullying him. The last one was him being a boy and too antsy to sit still on the bus.
Dear Lord, please let me get him home for good!
