Sometimes D1 comes up with new things… things I’ve never considered before. The other day he was in the kitchen, standing at the counter doing his math, and I caught him using a hand mirror to direct sunlight onto his math book. It made me wonder…
Does it make it easier to see? I suspect it is more of a stim.
Does it make him focus better? Possibly.
Does it make the math easier to understand? I doubt that but allowing himself to stim probably does help him process the math.
No matter what it does or doesn’t do, he actually got through his ENTIRE math test in under 45 minutes!
He got 88% on it, so something was working for him. It might have been the fact that he was standing up, or it might have been the fact that he was focusing on that shiny reflected area on his book (thereby effectively blocking out everything else going on in the house).
Whatever it was, it worked. 🙂
