In my post about pencil grips, I stated that I ordered the 3-pack. They arrived today! I immediately put the crossover grip on a pencil for D2 to try out, and he said it felt good. He held it exactly as he’s supposed to, with no coaxing, er, coaching, from me at all! I think that it just might work for him. And talk about fast service! I placed the order around 10pm on the 24th, and they were here in this morning’s mail. The other two grips are a small tripod grip which looks like it will work nicely for D1, and a larger one called The Pencil Grip. Comfy for Mom! D1 may use either one, so I will let him choose which is most comfortable.
Today’s a rather lazy day, besides the fact that I have to go down to work for a one hour continuing ed. training on skin breakdown. Oh joy. I’m not feeling all that great. D2 shared his minor cold with the family, it seems, and I am one of the chosen recipients. I’ve been sneezing my head off, my throat is sore, and I have the entire percussion section of the Spokane Symphony crashing in my head. What I really need is a nap.
UPDATE 8/29/07: D1 and D2 have both tried out all three grips, and settled on the ones I thought they would. D2 is using the crossover grip, and it is helping quite a bit. The only complaint I have is that the hole isn’t big enough for a skinny dry erase marker to go into. D2 uses them (at this point) for his handwriting practice, since I’m having him use plastic sheet protectors for his letters & name practice. He is using the crossover grip for pencil work though (math mostly) and it is working quite well. D1 doesn’t NEED a grip, but he likes the one called The Pencil Grip.
