Recent events sure have strengthened my resolve to bring all the kids home again. I have one home, but I WILL have all four home in the fall. I miss my kids! I am constantly saddened by stories I hear from school about situations, and the fact that my girls CANNOT DO MATH ANY MORE! This is frustrating me to no end with J. We’re using Teaching Textbooks Pre-Algebra this year. I thought it would be really great for her, but she has pointed out some failings to me just today. Her complaint? There’s not enough review of concepts. They give one lesson on a new concept, then move on. The next day’s lesson may have a couple of similar problems from the day before but it also has another new concept.
Now I’m facing the math giant again… What to do? Actually, NOT using TT doesn’t break my heart. It’s VERY expensive! Saxon and Math U See are back in the running again. I wish we’d have just kept her home all the way up to this point!! A year and a half in public school and it just ruined her basic math abilities. She’s not exactly eager to participate in the curriculum choosing, either. ARG. She’ll be taking the Saxon & MUS placement tests and we’ll see where she lands in each. I know the Lord will help me with this. I am NOT doing this on my own again!!
