Seems like this time of year it always happens to me: I have all of our curriculum planned out, and then I start having second thoughts about what I’ve chosen. I hate it! I’m now wondering if I should’ve gotten Algebra 1/2 instead of Math 87 for P, because although she tested into what I bought, so much of it will be review for her. She really REALLY needs Pre-Algebra! Ugh.
Sometimes I frustrate myself. I told her today that before the first day of school (the 7th) she needs to take the first test ahead of time. If she passes it with 75% or higher, I’ll have her take the second test, etc. Until she reaches a place where it’s obvious she needs to start working. I can’t see making her work through what she already knows. I DO HOPE she knows a lot of it!!
One year with that blasted CorePlus at the middle school and it just ruined everything she worked so hard on in 6th & 7th grade. It makes me really mad. Now we get to start all over again, with my 9th grader basically in remedial math. >:[ I also suggested that maybe she retake the Saxon placement test, just to make sure it wasn’t just a fluke and her brains leaked out before the last one. (Hey, I can hope, right?) If she does well taking the 87 chapter tests I may just go ahead and get Alg. 1/2 and bump her over to that. Pfftt!
