“Zero Tolerance”= Zero Common Sense

A little 6 year old boy named Zachary is waiting tonight to find out whether or not he will be forced to attend 45 days of reform school for bringing his ‘spork’ to school to eat lunch with.  His little red Cub Scout fork/knife/spoon violates the school district’s Zero Tolerance policy because of the knife. This just fries my brain cells!  How can a normal, thinking adult even take this seriously?  You just have to see it for yourself.

That is so stupid it falls into the "Ridonkulous" category. They'll send a child to reform school but let repeat child s-x offenders out of jail???? It makes no sense.

Wow! That's the craziest punishment I've ever heard for bringing a spork to school. I get that the knife violates the code, but I would suspect that a warning or reminder would be sufficient. How were they supposed to know? I also don't understand sending a 6 year old being sent to reform school for any reason and I know that here in Canada you can't send a little kid to "reform" school, because those schools are more like detention centres and only children that can be charged and convicted of crimes go there. Maybe it's different in the states, I don't know? I know that here a 6 year old can't be charged with a crime and it's the parents legal right to decide the punishment for their child at that age. Obviously though this situation doesn't even come close to a crime or anything so I guess it's a dead-end point.

The poor kid! He just wanted to share in his cub scout accomplishment!

The US has become so ultra-careful about weapons in schools that kids can't bring things like plastic ORANGE PEELERS because they are considered to be weapons. My son, when he was 6 (before we pulled him out of school) was told he could NOT wear his red, plastic light sabre on his belt with his Annikan Skywalker costume, because "it is a weapon". Um, I've never heard of a convenience store being robbed at sabre-point… or how about light sabre murders? Nope, haven't heard of any of those either. I think that they are taking this zero tolerance thing WAYYYY too far. And a six year old with a Boy Scout camping utensil? Come on, now that's just plain over the top. Make the poor little guy out to be a criminal! He's a BOY SCOUT for crying out loud!
