Wonderful from A to Z

Link up to the ABC's

When I began the ABC’s of Homeschooling I did it without knowing if anyone would join in. All I knew was that I’d seen the ABC theme work in other themes, and that no one had done it in the homeschool blog realm yet. That first week, I had 11 number of people link up, and the following weeks the number rose as more of you joined in.

All of you have been so fantastic about writing your posts, or linking up your older ones each week. We have seen a neat little community grow here, from my 5 Kids and a Dog beginnings to here at The Momma Knows. I had the chance to meet some of you at the Relevant Conference too, which was SO awesome!

It really has been wonderful. You gals are amazing, uplifting, supportive, Christ-following homeschool Mommas. I hope that I get the chance to meet every single one of you in person.

As wonderful as the ABC’s have been, you can’t go through them without reaching Z. This time, as we reach Z, I’m going to bring it to a close for a while. Honestly, I’m running out of topics that fit the ABC’s “on demand”, and I suspect some of you are feeling the same way. This isn’t to say that we won’t do it again. I may run the ABC’s of Homeschooling just once a year, beginning in September.

You may remember that my word of year is TRANSITIONfor very good reason, and I had no idea how it would manifest when I felt it impressed upon me—and I need a break. This is the last week the ABC’s of Homeschooling will run. If you have ANY remaining posts written, or you have posts planned for the next few weeks, please do it!

I will leave the Linky open for the next four weeks so that you can link up your W, X, Y, and Z posts as you do them. I’ll still tweet them for you! (I’ll retweet your linked up posts if you @msg me- just in case I don’t see them right away!)

HOMESCHOOLERS are amazing! W is for Wonderful, and you ladies are IT. Please still visit me, hang around, chat a while. I have so enjoyed getting to know every single one of you each week. And if you’re going to the Allume (formerly Relevant) Conference in October, I WILL SEE YOU THERE!!

God bless you as you teach your kids! I leave you with this poem, one of my favorites, which illustrates my homeschooling philosophy better than I ever could. Coincidentally, I used this poem in my very first ABC post, too! This was strictly coincidence, but it fits here. :)

The Teacher

by Leslie Pinckney Hill

Lord, who am I to teach the way
To little children day by day,
So prone myself to go astray?

I teach them KNOWLEDGE, but I know
How faint they flicker and how low
The candles of my knowledge glow.

I teach them POWER to will and do,
But only now to learn anew
My own great weakness through and through.

I teach them LOVE for all mankind
And all God’s creatures, but I find
My love comes lagging far behind.

Lord, if their guide I still must be,
Oh let the little children see
The teacher leaning hard on Thee.

Thank you so much for hosting the ABCs of Homeschooling. It's been interesting and inspiring to read what other homeschooling families who are participating in the ABCs of Homeschooling do.

I've enjoyed participating in both rounds – in two very different ways. The first time it was fun to go through photos of homeschooling and think of a theme that related to the letter; and this round for using the Alpha-Bakery cookbook and doing a recipe each week that corresponded to a letter of the alphabet. (Only one more recipe left: Zebra Cookies.)

It's been so fun to participate in the ABCs of Homeschooling and I'm sad that it is going on hiatus. I understand though. I've been wanting to do my own ABC meme, but I forgot the theme I wanted to do.

thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. it was so nice to get feedback! :)

yes, my lad is quite the creative lad and he really keeps me hopping in that direction. I've learned the best way to help him learn is to figure out some way that he can draw it, design it, or ask questions about it.

Aww. It's a bit saddening to hear that ABC's of home schooling will take its break but I know you will not fail to introduce something new and great for your readers. Thanks!
