BrainWare Safari

D1′s BrainWare Safari program came in the mail last week, and I couldn’t find his log-on information for him to get started using it. We were both disappointed, but I emailed the company, and they sent me his username and password. Today was the first day that he was able to use it, and it was interesting. From what I can tell, he is really going to be stretched by the exercises. There are hand-eye coordination, listening/following directions, memory, sequencing and a whole lot of other things it works on. And everything relates back to audio/visual processing skills, which is where he is lacking the most. It appears to be a cute kid’s game, but if you sit down and watch the exercises, you can plainly see the effort that goes into understanding and completing each exercise!

I am very impressed, and we are only on Day 1. There is a pre-evaluation form that I filled out, and then there is a daily journal for he and I to fill out together, and a post-evaluation that is supposed to be completed after 30 hours or 4 months of use. Since he was in school up until the end of December, and is still seeing the Resource teacher for an hour a day (yes, an hour, not TWO! :) I am having her fill one out too. I’ll keep both of them, and I do expect that they will probably line up and come out very similar. Then I’ll have her do the re-eval one in May too. I am very curious to see what the outcome of this will be!

If you want to learn more about BrainWare Safari, you can read about it at the HomeSchool Buyer’s Co-op. You can purchase it through them for $49, which is $300 OFF, because of the enormous number of orders they have collected. The offer ends Jan. 31st!

BrainWare Safari at Homeschool Buyer’s Co-Op!

Most of you know how much my son has struggled. Between the developmental delay, dyspraxia, and speech/language delays from apraxia of speech, he’s dealt with it all. His visual and auditory processing are rather slow, and he could really use some help in this area. I have been researching computer programs we could use, and it came down to Brain Builder or BrainWare Safari. I put the question to a Yahoo Group I belong to (Learning Abled Kids) and had TWO recommendations for BrainWare Safari.

To make it even better, the Homeschool Buyer’s Co-Op has this on special right now for 87% off the regular price!! This is just too awesome to pass by! The catch is that the offer ends December 31st. And the discount could go even HIGHER if more people order! I placed my order tonight, and I believe it said they will ship around Jan. 10th.

If you have a special needs child, or any child who would benefit from a program that will help build brain functioning and processing skills, this is the one. :) The Homeschool Buyers Co-op has launched a Group Buy for Brainware Safari cognitive skills software.

The Homeschool Buyer Co-op is a free homeschooling organization for both new and veteran homeschoolers. Co-op membership is free and confidential, and entitles homeschooling families to discounts from over a hundred educational suppliers. They also sponsor “Group Buys” for curriculum packages that save homeschooling families lots of money. On the site you’ll find lots of free information, such as databases of free curriculum, field trips, and educational contests and scholarships. Highly recommended. Click here for more information.
