We found out today that we’re losing D2’s speech therapist. She’s moving out of state! 🙁 BooHoo! At this point, the boys see different SLPs (same time slot) on Tuesdays and the same one (one appt. after the other) on Fridays. Now the one D2 sees is leaving. They haven’t been able to find another one to replace her yet, and so far it doesn’t look promising. They’ll both continue to see the other one on Fridays, but we have to drop Tuesdays all together until they hire someone else. For him it’s not nearly as crucial as it is for D1, but still this is upsetting.
D1 NEEDS speech 2-3 times a week. He’s come a long way, made a lot of great progress, but his articulation and language skills are still really lagging behind most kids. I know, I know, HE CAN TALK NOW! That is a huge thing. Most parents just won’t understand this, but for D1, talking is a big deal–since he was totally unable to do so until he was three. Seeing a three year old go through the baby-babble stage is kind of weird, but for us it was like music. Now we’re back to one day a week private speech therapy, and one day a week at school. Not good. I sure hope they hire someone soon!
