The buck stops HERE.
The boys came home from the store with Dad a few days ago, and learned that I decided to make some changes. What I’ve seen lately is that my kids don’t like to play outside. It’s not that they don’t know how, but sometimes it sure seems that way. Not only do they prefer to not play outside, but they don’t really DO anything inside either. Like read.
The main culprits are the electronics. Whether it’s the computer games, XBox and Kinect games, iPad and iPod Touch games, or Netflix (on any of the above devices!) these boys were plugged in or on wifi all.the.time. No longer.
The first thing they noticed was the sign on the computer, but then D2 spotted the one I had taped on the TV:

Can't I take it down?
A closer look revealed this:

It's a game changer.
After I read it with the boys and went over what this means to them, D2 went into his pouting place. And that’s okay.

Leave me alone.
Sometimes we just have to change the rules. They don’t have to like it. And you know what? Since then, we have played more board and card games, and they have played outside and liked it!
Tell me about the last time you changed the rules on your kids!

This is a good idea…We should not really spoil our kids especially into video games…Thanks for the post here…

I've put my foot down before..
(And then I ran after something else and my foot moved.. it happens.) =(
Kudos, to you, though! I bet they'll adjust. (We did, before we got back in the habit again.)

Bravo. I really liked the way you have taken the charge and changed the rule. It's essentially for us to make certain things clear to our kids as all this is just for their benefit only. I told my kid strictly "NO" to computer games at the time of exam and only half an hour playing on computer when exams are over.
