We have one foot smack in parenthood still, and the other in grand parenting.
It’s a funny position isn’t it? I have teenagers, the last two of our bunch. No more babies. No more fostering. No more sleepless nights with colic or weeks in the hospital with D2’s chronic kidney infections.
We can go out on a date without hiring a sitter. We can go places without a lot of advanced planning around naps or nursing. We can pile extra kids in the car and not juggle carseats around. Then on the other hand, we ARE the sitters when our kids need a night out, away from their little ones.
We wouldn’t have it any other way.
Now there are sons and daughters in law, and family barbecues and diapers and potty training (again!) This time we aren’t the primary diaper-ers and potty trainers, although we still take that on when those little ones begin crawling and running through the house.
Tomorrow, my youngest daughter is going to become a mother. Please join me over on my other blog to read my thoughts about this On the Eve of Motherhood!
This will be our 8th grandbaby. We had one born in April (#7, pictured above) and have another (#9) expected later this summer too! ALL THREE ARE BOYS. Imagine our house in about three years, with 9 grandkids and the youngest three being all boys the same age! HAHA!
I love it. I just LOVE this season we’re in right now! How about you? Tell me, are you and grandparent yet? And do you still have kids at home, too?
