Hello! I am so glad you’re here. My name is Dawn, and this is my little home on the web. I write about all sorts of things, giving you a glimpse of myself along the way. Please feel free to stay a while.
I go by many names and titles, some by choice and others that just happened through living…
Wife, because I’m married to my best friend.
Mom and Stepmom, because I have these kids, ya know. I love it, but parenting is hard sometimes.
Daughter of the King, a hopeless lost soul given rest through the Grace of Almighty God.
Homeschooler, because I have seen the village, and I don’t want it raising our kids. Speaking of villages, I also wrote for The Homeschool Village for a while.
Certified Nursing Assistant, because how else could we afford three kids in braces at the same time? It is a tough, touching position and I have a love/hate relationship with it.
Closet Deadhead… Oh my how to explain that… I love Jesus AND the Grateful Dead. This is the first time I’ve written about it. I guess it’s not one of my Skeletons in the Closet now! (I should do a post all in Dead song titles, LOL.)
Runner, my newest title and one I am still working on.
Former Foster Parent AND Adoptive Mom, because we love kids and for 8 years didn’t turn any away. We were blessed to get to keep two.
Motherless Daughter, not something I would choose for myself but just a fact of life.
Special Needs Advocate, because my kids need to have a voice. Our adopted sons have special needs. Our 10yo has developmental dyspraxia, sensory issues, speech/language issues, and a mild/moderate developmental delay. Our 9yo has a congenital heart murmur, fine/gross motor problems, and dysgraphia.
Café Manager, my “other job”, unpaid but much loved—Definitely my ministry.
Wannabe Academic, because someday I will go back to school and get my degree… in something… probably Communications. (Go figure.)
Digital Scrapbooker… favorite hobby I hardly ever do anymore, since I’ve been blogging! Which, it turns out, is basically just an online scrapbook anyway.
Blogger… a natural extension of my tendency to write at random times about random things. I have loved to write since I was in middle school.
Bible in 90 Days Alumni/Graduate THREE times over. It is my yearly tradition to begin each new year with a full reading of the entire Bible. Here are my First, Second, and Third wrap-up posts. I began again January 4, 2012.
Relevant Conference Alumni, which blessed me and has shaped my writing since I went. I went for the second time this past October, and I already purchased my ticket for the new Allume Social conference, which is the “new” Relevant.
