One week ago, I moved my blog from 5 Kids and a Dog to here. Now we have new hosting service, new name, new domain, and a fresh new look! Since it was my birthday, I wanted to really spoil my readers with presents! Who doesn’t like presents? So I asked some friends to help me out and sponsor a giveaway. And we have had some FANTASTIC giveaway prizes!
While I was gathering sponsors for this week, I received an email from Teresa, the owner of Heritage History. I had helped her a few years ago when she was just beginning to digitize books for her Compact Libraries. (She lives about five minutes from me.) I was SO excited to be able to help her then, and hearing from her recently was perfect timing! She said she’d love to sponsor a giveaway prize, and BOY did she!
Heritage History is owned by the Roth family, veteran homeschoolers who have a serious love for books. Mrs. Roth and I had begun talking about books, and the benefits of using e-books, and found we were on common ground. (Don’t you LOVE it when that happens?) It turned out that she has been one of the contributors to the Baldwin Online Children’s Literature Project. She decided to go one step further and make these wonderful books accessible to home users who may not be all that computer or printer savvy. When she asked me if I might be willing to help her work some of the bugs out of her CD Libraries, so I was *more* than happy to help. And what a treasure these Libraries are! Very nicely done, well-formatted books, with the original illustrations included. The Tables of Contents are hyperlinked, too!
From their website:
“Each library contains 60 to 90 books that were selected to be of special interest to a particular audience. Each book in these libraries has been carefully prepared in an attractive, ready-to-print format so that purchasers of these libraries may easily print and bind them.”

Heritage History pre-formatted printable ebooks
“Civilization specific Compact Libraries contain a variety of other study aids, illustrated by the following samples.
- Historical Maps
- Timelines
- Lists of important characters
- Lists of prominent wars and battles
These study aids make the Compact Libraries an invaluable resource for students of Ancient or Western civilizations. The books themselves, as well as the study aids are fact-based rather than analytical and are accessible to motivated students of all ages.”
We are currently using the three titles that I printed from the Young Reader’s Compact Library, and enjoying them very much.
Today’s giveaway is The Mother Lode of curriculum! Today only, until midnight pacific, you have a chance to win FOUR Heritage History Compact Libraries!!

So I went to their website and love the idea of so many early reader books all compiled on one CD. Great idea! I had never heard of them, and you say they are local? Even better!
Yes Mandy! They live out here in the Valley. She's really nice!
Thanks for the chance. After skimming through their products, I like what I see and will go back to dig deeper.
Wow, your blog is all new and different! I like it!

Thanks Jamie! I'm glad you came over to say hi!
I would love to have the book "Knights of Art" by Morris. It would be a great addition to our current unit study: artists. I am sure I could use many of the other titles for other unit studies, but that is the one that stands out because of what we are doing now. It's described as "stories of the Italian Painters." Perfect for where we are, since we are studying the Italian painters.

Sorry the author was Amy Steedham. (I saw Morris, but it was connected to something else.)

I'm not sure about an actual iPad version… unless maybe I didn't read well enough!
It's possible. I know that she is getting Kindle and Nook versions and you can use both of those on an iPad. I love that too!!
