Since the past several months have been KinderGardens posts (even though I wasn’t that great about getting them done), I figured I should give you another update while I still can, minus the tons of pictures. Maybe just one or two. 
The garden has grown. And grown. And OVERgrown. It resembles a jungle of raspberry bushes, corn, tomato plants, and various vining vegetables and fruits. It’s all just EVERYWHERE! And crops? Let’s see:
Corn: Most of it didn’t grow well at all. The ears are half formed or look like they are dried out, even though they received plenty of water all summer. Not good. We’ve been able to eat a few ears but that’s all so far.
Tomatoes: Oh my gosh. It’s been raining the past 2 days, and that’s fine. I’m just so afraid we’re going to get a hard frost before any of them ripen! I may just head out there and start picking them, green. They’ll ripen eventually if I put them in boxes and paper bags. I think we have at least 200 tomatoes, easy. We have several heirloom varieties and they are SO TASTY.
Green Beans: The regular bush beans we bought at the store grew, although not big, and we picked about six beans at a time a couple times a week, all summer. They’re done now. The Red Runner Beans I bought from Baker Creek grew and climbed like crazy but they never bloomed, and they ended up badly eaten by… something.
Zucchini: Bumper crop! We’re still picking and eating zukes and summer squash. And what else can you do with a bumper crop of zukes than make Chocolate Chip Zucchini Bread? Yumm!
Peppers: They are slowing ripening! I hope they ripen off the vine like tomatoes do, because I’m afraid a frost is coming any night now and they’ll be killed off.
Carrots: The stayed tiny. The guinea pig and rabbit appreciate them.
Onions: They didn’t get large, but they are pretty potent. I’ve been picking and using them as we need them.
Peas: We got a few, then they watering fell away and they dried out. Definitely human error here.
Herbs: We’ve used the Thyme but really forgot to try to use anything else. They’re all growing well though, so we still can.
Strawberries: There are 10 gallons of washed, hulled and sliced berries in the freezer. Raspberries too: I have about 4 gallons frozen!
Rhubarb: 10 quart freezer bags full of chopped up rhubarb. Waiting for crisp and pies later in the fall!
We’re still hoping things will ripen before the frost comes, but I know that our pumpkins and melons are dead, thanks to one mild night of frost. All the vines wilted. 
Another night like that and most everything else will be gone too!

The chocolate chip zucchini bread looks delicious, and so do your tomatoes. I can never get any vegetables to grow in my backyard. Maybe I’ll try again next year.

Susan, it is heavenly! As far as growing things, most things GROW but with it getting so cold so fast, most things don’t grow to RIPEN. Sigh. Gotta love the Inland Northwest. I bet you could grow zucchini with no problem at all though! (I think you just can’t KILL those things.) Our best ‘crop’ are berries… strawberries and raspberries. We could just ditch the rest of the gardening and plant it all in low maintenance berries!
The linky button is mostly covered by the photo strip on the left of the post. It took me a bit to see the little bit of blue sticking out on the bottom to realize that is where the linky button was.
