We start school again in a week. One week. 7 Days and back to homeschooling. It just occurred to me that I’m not ready yet. I have some of their books but not all. And we didn’t finish their math books last year.
As I have been thinking about this, I came up with 10 Things I need to do between now and September 8th, in no particular order.
1. Declutter the paper piles in my bedroom.
2. Tear out the used pages in their Math U See books and handwriting books.
3. Find D2’s Bible. He lost it somewhere in the house. Must send the kids on a hunt.
4. Print out all of our ebooks and my planner notebook, and bind them or have them bound.
5. Schedule the math tutor, so the 16yo will be ready for college math when she starts in January.Purchased Life of Fred Geometry instead.
6. Connect my 16yo with the Running Start counselor at the high school so she can get registered.
7. File our Intent to Homeschool form with the school district.
8. Organize our school cabinet and purge or store anything we are not going to use this year.
9. Come up with a workable menu plan for 30 days. And use it!
10. Re-establish bedtime routines and times, and morning alarm clock use.
Yikes! Seeing it all listed like that makes me afraid I won’t be able to get it all done.
Deep breath.
Yes, I will. I will put my laptop away and get on it. After I print out those ebooks and planner pages, that is.

Hi Dawn,
It helps to write it all out, doesn’t it? I have a running list of things to do in a notepad document. It is always open on my desktop and I keep throwing stuff in there that needs to be done.
I hope you have time to get everything done on your list.
Blessings

Yes! This is my go-to list this week!
Yay! I’m not the only one! Of course, I am sitting here in all my smug superiority because I have indeed filed my intent to homeschool, lol. Just don’t ask about my IHIP. Oh crap, I better get moving. Have a not too crazy week
LOL have fun with that smug superiority.
You’ll probably find something else you haven’t done, too! hehe
My list looks similar to yours. A lot to do, but I know it will get done! Stopping by from the Hip Homeschool Hop!

Tiffany: It’s been my experience that even kids in public schools (which I have had some in high schools) don’t get their books finished either. If they don’t stress about it, why should WE? We homeschoolers put the pressure on ourselves. We’ll hit those math books first thing this year anyway. Thanks for stopping by!
OH! this is a long list! It’s making me tired to just look . . . from your title on top-10, I thought it would be “fun” things like “go to the beach one more time” or “have an ice cream cone” . . . but this is so much more practical.
Maybe I should focus on the declutter/organization and not the last summer hurrahs.

Sarah: Actually I like YOUR idea better!
Unfortunately, this was a summer of NOT getting a whole lot of practical things done, so I couldn’t really DO a fun one.
Ah well, practicality rules this time of year anyway, doesn’t it? Thanks for stopping by!
what a list!
yes, that is some of the wonderful things that homeschool moms get to do!

Jenilee: There’s probably MORE I should or could add to this list! I shudder to think, actually. Next week may end up being Ten Things I’m Scrambling To Do… LOL
I can never seem to get away from lists! I have one on my fridge right now for household stuff that needs to get done. I think I am mostly set for my homeschooling list. We begin a week from today. We are using this week for fun and play since this is the first time they have not gone back to school!
Jessica: Hooray for you!! I hope you make this the most FUN back to school week EVER for your kids! Our first September homeschooling, I made a point to take the (now big) kids to a noon movie about 3 days after the public school started.
They thought that was the coolest thing ever.
I did go back and make a list of 10 reasons we don’t homeschool!

You DID! Oh cool! I will be right over to check it out!!
That bedtime thing is the killer! We’re on week 2 of school and still it’s hard to get in the early to bed habit!

Yes it is!! Last night the boys were in bed by 9:15 (15 min. late) and one son overslept this morning. We will work on being consistent this week so they are ready next week! Having teens in the house that stay up until all hours does not help this at all.
Well…if it makes you feel any better, we’re in our 4th week already and I’m still not totally ready!!! – LOL
I hope that you have a wonderful year, Dawn.
Blessings,
Sue
