90 Days with God’s Word

Amy over at Mom’s Toolbox asked us to recap our 90 day journey. When I began this Bible in 90 Days plan, I didn’t really have a plan. I knew that I wanted to do it, and that even though I thought the pace would be overwhelming, that God had given me this challenge. What I didn’t count on was that I would receive so much from the Lord during my daily readings. My post from Days 1-3 is here.

Some days I would cry out to God, saying “Why oh WHY do I have to read the tabernacle dimensions AGAIN?” I would continue to read, not sure why I was even doing it… until I came to the end of the Books of the Law and then I knew. God cares SO MUCH about the little things, the foundational things, and the things that we don’t typically notice. God cared down to the type of thread that was used to decorate the cloth! God cares down to the short, passing notion we have, sinful or not. God cares. Not only does He care, but He wants us to continually seek Him for strength and perseverance to continue on… even when we have no idea why we would want to read THAT particular passage of Scripture.

Don’t get me wrong: I loved this journey!! It was hard and wonderful at the same time. I am beginning to think of it as akin to giving birth. We labor and strive, we breathe and pause, we reflect and complain, but we press on… or PUSH through as it were. And when we are done we have received this amazing blessing, making every minute of the time so worthwhile! Just as giving birth isn’t the end, because then we have a child to raise and care for, completing the Bible in 90 Days plan is not the end. We have a life still to give to our Lord. We have more times, more minutes, hours, days spent seeking Him through His Word and in prayer. Only now, we have already seen the Glory of the Lord… in Genesis, in Exodus, in Samuel, in Isaiah, in Psalms, in Song of Solomon, in Matthew, in Acts, Ephesians, Hebrews, Timothy, Revelations, and many, many more books, chapters, and stories.

I said in my final post that I cried when I finished Revelation. It was so beautiful, knowing that my Lord was with me every step of the way, and reading about the glorious ending we have yet to see but will one day. I can’t wait. But until then, Psalm 119:105 says it best.

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

  • Beautiful description and analogy! I’m not a big reader… I’ve read much of the Bible in different settings, but your post is making me think about reading the whole thing through. And if I do, it will be you I thank for the encouragement! ♥ Michelle

    • Thank you! If you do decide to take on the 90 Days Bible project, join a group. I highly recommend Amy over at Mom’s Toolbox, because she is amazing and keeps everything moving. She is great at motivating and getting good discussions started too. The Monday night Twitter chat was a huge help to me. I had never read the whole Bible through before this either, but I’m so glad that I did it!
