Day 53? Or Day 52? For me, it SHOULD be Day 53 but alas, I am still on Day 52.
Sunday after church was our Students vs. Staff Speed The Light Basketball Game. What a blast! Lots of fun, with the students beating the staff 61-57. It was a really close game all along, neck & neck, until the last few minutes when the students stepped it up and did some whoopin’ on the staff!
SO much fun to watch though! The best part: We raised $1000 for Speed the Light!
Unfortunately, I got home from the game at 3:00 and left for work at 3:30. No Bible time at all.
Now I’m working on getting yesterday’s reading done, so that I can begin today’s. And of course I’ve been homeschooling and on this computer pretty much all day too. Time to get myself busy!
I must say that I love Isaiah. I have always loved Isaiah. I love his prophecies about Christ, and his words of God’s strength and provision. I’ve spent a lot of serious knee-time in Isaiah over the years, especially when I was going through tough stuff. Some favorites:
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righeous right hand.” Is. 41:10
In repentence and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength. Is. 30:15
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hare a voice behind you, saying “This is the way; walk in it”. Is. 3:21
Yet he too is wise and can bring disaster; he does not take back his words. Is. 31:2 (emphasis mine)
I’ll say it again: I LOVE THE BOOK OF ISAIAH!
One more to share, because I actually found it rather funny, regarding the worship of idols, and carving them out of wood:
No one stops to think, no one has the knowledge or understanding to say, “Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?” Is. 44:19 (emphasis mine)
I love it that God has a sense of humor! There have been several instances where I literally laughed out loud, reading God’s Word. That is one that that has really struck me lately… that I never noticed before. Even God finds humor– and uses sarcasm– in things. I think sometimes we all just need to lighten up a bit.
Happy reading!

Sounds like you are doing really well.
I almost laughed out loud at the wood idol creating thing, too. Yikes!
So glad you are reading with us! Keep it up!

Well done Dawn for keeping up. I’ve just remembered you and yours to our heavenly Father.
Isn’t the Bible great – a love letter , auto-biography, biographies, history book all in one.
Keep going – the rewards to this challenge are eternal.
