Last night, around 9pm, it occurred to me that our winter break is over. Monday, we begin school again. I should be rested and ready to go, right? Well, sort of. Does it matter that I haven’t even so much as TOUCHED one of our school books since the end of November? Probably. So guess what I get to do this weekend?
You guessed it, this is “Lesson Plan Weekend” for me. I have an outline of our plans, drawn up back in August during my insane summer planning period, so I know what we’re covering and I have a book list. I printed Donna Young’s fantastic Colonial Planner set, and I’m going to use it to tweak my notebook just a bit. I love her forms so much, but this Colonial set is the nicest, hands-down! I ran across a blog post the other day which once again reminded me that I need to stay on the ball, as far as having some sort of a plan goes. You can read about 4 Easy Steps to Help You Fail At Homeschooling and you’ll see what I mean. It was a little funny, in a that-sorta-hits-home kind of way, if you know what I mean.
So Ancient Greece it is. I’m looking for Greece lapbooking resources too, because I need premade and can’t come up with things myself very well. Input is welcome, thanks! I’ll post again when I have my head on straight and know what I’m doing.

Not books since the end of November? I can so relate (as I mentioned in my post, I had a major planning FAIL in the month of December. I have to finish up my planning this weekend for our next term, which happens to be only 4 weeks this time, and I’m so behind!
I loved studying Ancient Greece. Are you going to read through A Children’s Homer? My kids loved that book!

Joy: Nope, no books! We take the month of December (and April & August) off from school. Usually I spend at least SOME of that time planning, but with our family situation as it is, our daughter coming home for the first time in over six months, Christmas and everything else… I guess “Major planning FAIL” could totally describe my month too!
