This week was full of little accomplishments. Normally I wouldn’t think any of them are a big deal, but when added together, they make me SMILE! =)
We got all of our planned-out schoolwork done this week. Even better, the guys both had Unit Tests in math, covering math they haven’t looked at since the end of November. And they both passed. With 100%! I guess taking the first week back to just review math facts paid off! We use The Quarter Mile Math software (yearly only subscription) and it works very well. It must, since they both aced their big tests first thing Monday.
We did all of our reading in history, literature, and geography. We’re really enjoying our history readings! The Children’s Plutarch: Tales from the Greeks is a fantastic book, as are the others we are reading. We even added several events to our centuries book this week. One day I’ll have to shoot some pictures of it, so you can see it. Even all of their book work got done. D2 finished hishandwriting book and didn’t HAVE handwriting on Wed/Thurs., which didn’t bother him at all, but we are waiting for new handwriting books to arrive for both boys AND brand spanky new hardbacked Kid’s Adventure Bibles. They check for UPS boxes several times a day, because they can’t wait for their new bibles to arrive. D2 has never had one of his own, and D1 had a paperback one that died a messy, ripped, page-rumpled death that only a 7-8-9 year old boy could cause. (WHY they even make paperback bibles for kids, I do not know.) They are really looking forward to seeing the UPS man!
Also this week, I have managed to stay on track with my daily Bible in 90 Days reading. I fell behind one day last week, but did catch back up again the next day. It is easy to fall behind, and that’s something I DON’T want to do. So far I’m in Deuteronomy, which sounds okay but when you consider that this challenge entails reading many CHAPTERS per day, and I’ve read around 170 chapters, you can see it’s a massive undertaking! I’m amazed at how much I have accomplished, how much I am learning (and quickly!) and so glad that I decided to do this! If you’re on Twitter, you can catch all the buzz about it by searching #b90days. We do a Twitter chat every Monday evening for about half an hour.
I’m headed out of town for the weekend (I’m writing this Wed. night, very very late–make that Thurs. morning actually…) Thursday P and I take off with the youth group for our annual Snow Camp. Our youth group is going with 6 other youth groups from area churches. We do a “United” Snow Camp… interdenominational… local youth groups who get together and have a service quarterly, and we do a camp together. this year’s speaker is our Assemblies of God DYD (District Youth Director) Jeffrey Portmann. He’s hard to get scheduled for things, and he’s an amazing speaker. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us!
It’s a LOT of fun, always an adventure to be had! Yes, I’m a little bit crazy. I also just found out tonight that I am the *ONLY* woman going from our church who is my age. All of my friends who usually go, aren’t this year. I’m leading a cabin with one of our interns, a 19yo girl who I’ve known since she was about 5. Most of the other women are around her age, up through their late-20′s. It’s okay, I just feel like THE MOM of the group and that’s kind of weird! No matter what, I know that just like every other year, God has His hand on this camp, on these leaders and students, and I expect big things! And if you think about me, please pray for me. I’ll be running on little to no sleep from Thursday through Sunday night. We’ll be back Sunday evening.
And here are a couple Snow Camp wrap-up posts from years past…
This post will be Linky’d at Weird Unsocialized Homeschoolers IF she leaves the Linky up until Sunday night or Monday morning! =)

Yay for keeping up with the Bible in 90 Days reading. It is a lot to read but it’s rewarding isn’t it? It’s hard to believe we’re a sixth of the way through the BIBLE! Wowza.
