De-Cluttering December: Progress Update

I’ll copy & paste my main list for you, and maybe give some highlights too. ;)   When I finally get this all DONE, I will post pictures!!  Before & after, in fact! =)

De-clutter my school books and things, again.

I have a box of books for sale, and I posted about it already.

Sell, donate, or throw away everything that I purge from our home. Working on that! This task won’t be complete until the house IS!

Garage Clean-out. Done. E did it over the weekend. I didn’t go out and help, because I’ve been stuck in our bedroom walk-in closet for days. The garage is clean, we can walk around the vehicles, and I can get to the freezer. That’s all that counts!

De-clutter and de-junk my bedroom and bedroom closet. In process. I swear, that closet is killing me slowly. Why do I get attached to stuff?? It’s been so hard to sort it all out and commit to get rid of certain things! But purge I must, because I am so tired of the clutter. No one needs this much STUFF! Once the closet is done, I’ll hit my desk top and the rest of the room. Those are EASY compared with this closet. The desk may very well be moving downstairs when I get to the living room again.

Window Cleaning. Not yet. We are expecting a high of 17 today, with a low of -2 overnight. I’m pretty sure ammonia and vinegar will freeze on the windows… AND I’m not all that keen on spending more than a couple of minutes outside right now. It’s supposed to ‘warm up’ to 31 on Saturday. It’s not perfect but I think I can manage to get it done then. Hopefully!

And the rest of these things all hinge on my finishing up my bedroom, because they deal with getting ready for Christmas.

Re-arranging the living room
Carpet Cleaning.
Baking, baking, baking!
Decorate for Christmas!

Soon! Soon! Soon!

Other things that weren’t on the list, which were completed:

I de-junked and cleaned J’s bedroom. She’s not going to recognize it when she comes home for Christmas! ;)

I threw out some old, nasty dish towels after discovering a whole basket full of bathroom hand towels which we haven’t used in 5 years because they are the wrong colors, and are still in very nice condition. I don’t care that my kitchen towels are bath hand towels. They just look like regular hand towels, just thicker than a traditional kitchen hand towel. So I got a “new set” of kitchen towels for free!

Had the kids pick up all most of the toys they have left out in the yard. Better now than in the spring, when the snow melts and we “find them”.

De-junked G’s bedroom. He rarely ever stays here, but he has stuff in there from fourth grade! He’s 18 now folks, and usually stays at his stepdad’s house and only here a couple of nights a month. His room ends up being the guest room when we have folks in from out of town.

I cleaned out the shoe bench. It was overflowing, to the point where the bench seat wouldn’t sit flat for all the shoes inside.  D1 helped me by taking everything out of it and vacuuming it out.  Then I went through and pulled out 14 pairs of worn out, nasty shoes to throw away, several pairs of summer shoes to return to their owner’s bedrooms, and one Transformers glove.  I think I know where the other one is.

So for now, for today, my bedroom closet IS the agenda. I have got to get that thing finished! Oh and did I mention I haven’t had any sleep? Oh yes, we have a stud dog here to visit our Cleo, and he whined ALL. NIGHT. LONG. The two of them kept wanting to go outside. Seven times I let them out. I was afraid they’d freeze to death if I sat on the couch and fell asleep, so I stood at the door, leaning against the wall. I fell asleep a couple of times any way. Sheesh! Hopefully they get this deed DONE today. I don’t think we can take another night of Mr. Bandit barking and whining.
