Can you Spring Clean in the Fall?

weekly wrap-upOur week wasn’t real exciting, unless you count the white stuff we woke up to on Thursday. Yes, I am talking about SNOW. It tried to snow for about half an hour, just long enough to drop the temp a bit. It mostly melted as it hit the ground, but even a couple of hours later we had just a light dusting on the farmer’s field/hillside across the road from us. It was enough for the boys to get a chair, climb up to the shelf in the coat closet, and pull down the big box of gloves and hats. And dump it out. And drag them everywhere. That lasted about 5 minutes after I noticed and I made them clean it all up and put it all away!

One thing that hit me hard this week is sort of a spring cleaning kind of a mood. I have been looking around at my terribly cluttered house and realize that I hate it very much and want to do something about it. I dejunked the table & desk in my bedroom, took 3 bags of kid’s outgrown clothes to donate and two big bags straight to the trash. I need to get organized again, I need to get myself back on a menu plan of SOME sort, and a better cleaning/organizing routine. But school gets done! =) I also took down all SEVEN triple cell honeycomb shades in the living/dining rooms and took them in for repairs. I decided to do the cleaning myself, so I am waiting for them to get dry and hopefully I can rehang 4 tomorrow, clean the other 3 and rehang those on Sunday.

The boys are loving swimming lessons! Oh my, yes they are! Of course, D2′s swimming style is rather humorous: Treading water while appearing to be drowning, while splashing EVERYONE within a 6 foot radius. Oh, and his eyes are squished shut, goggles on his forehead rather than on his EYES, and his face turned up to the ceiling. Oh yeah, gotta love swimming lessons.

We upgraded 2 of our computers to Windows 7! This was one very exciting thing for me!! It did necessitate having a computer geek friend tear into our desktop PC because it wouldn’t format or take the upgrade. He messed with it, discovered the DVD-rom was dead, replaced that, and took care of the rest for us. Now it SCREAMS. :) And my Gateway Fx laptop? Oh yeah, made me fall in love with it all over again. I just wish it didn’t weigh TEN POUNDS. :-P Oh yes, and we upgraded to Qwest’s new fiber optic DSL and it’s pretty awesome too. All in all I guess this has been a very technologically satisfying week for me! =)

Both boys got 100% on their math tests, WooHoo!! We didn’t work much on our Egypt lapbook this week, but next week we have some more to do with it. They are enjoying lapbooking, so I think we will do another one very soon!

So how was YOUR week?

  • YES! I always want to spring clean in the fall because I know we’re about to be shut up in my filthy house for months. I never feel like it spring because the weather is nice and I want to be outside!! LOL I love your description of Daniel’s swimming style ROFL

  • That is when we do our spring cleaning every year!

It is a perfect time to clean out the house before the holidays. We generally do it the begining of Oct. We clean out the old clothes we can no longer wear and toys no one plays with anymore and donate them to those who can use them. We take the time to reorganize what needs it. Then we are free to decorate for Thanksgiving & Christmas!

  • We’re about to do some “spring” cleaning too. Daddy’s coming home in a few weeks
