Oh yes, what a week it has been! Here it is, Sunday, and I am finally getting to my Weekly Wrap-Up post. If you’re reading this you must know at least ONE thing I’ve been up to this week, since my blog is now located on it’s own hosting service, with a bright, shiny new address. This site will probably change in appearance several times in the next couple of weeks while I figure out what I want it to look like, and how it should function. Just please bear with me and pardon the dust! If you haven’t done so already, please change your bookmarks, blogroll links, and feeds over to this new site.
I’ve kept everything I have on the old WordPress.com blog, lest anyone feel I may have forgotten them.
Our school week was rather chaotic. We didn’t get as much done as I’d like, but that is how it goes sometimes. See You At The Pole was Wednesday, and as most of you know I’m on Youth Staff at our church. We always do a big See You AFTER The Pole event, and this year was no different. Consequently, I was to & from the church several times at the beginning of the week and half the afternoon on Wednesday. The boys and I did get quite a bit done, except science, which for some reason we never did even crack. We’ll get back into that this coming week.
One thing I did realize is that setting aside two days a week to get all of the reading done in our Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day book is NOT going to cut it. They can’t sit through that much reading all at once! Since the chapters are broken into nice short portions, I am now doing a short science reading every day, which works much better for them. And for my sanity.
D1 woke up around 4am on Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday. It made for awfully stressful, can’t sit still or follow through type school days. He struggles with insomnia, although it usually shows up at bedtime rather than early morning. NOT FUN. This week I am praying he stays asleep until 7!
We started our homeschool co-op on Thursday. I’m still not sure how I feel about that. The choir class is… okay. The Manners class has WAY too much writing and bookish type things and both boys were totally lost and neither one could keep up. D1 wasn’t able to write down ANYTHING. I don’t think that class is going to work so well. Science was okay, educational at least but not relating to anything we’re doing at home. All in all I’m not sold on it and I’m not sure if I want to give up a whole day per week for what at this point amounts to a play day. I’d rather put the boys in the van one day a week and take an actual hands-on field trip type learning experience.
Not sure what we’re going to do yet. E said we need to just give it a chance, so I am going to give it a couple more weeks. And I’m not real comfortable there yet either, among ladies I do not know at all, most of whom were in the co-op last year.
P is supposed to be working on her English credit at home. She had a nasty cold last week and only worked on it on Monday. She pretty much slept all of her free time away the rest of the week. We’re emphasizing responsibility for this 17-almost-18 year old girl. I bought her a bus pass so I could resign as taxi driver. She lost it four days later. Now she is working off the $20 by detailing our vehicles. Her October pass is here for the 1st and I hope she keeps better track of this one. She better be getting back on track with her English, as well!
All in all I think it was a bumpy week. I have more to post about, but they are topics for other posts. Welcome to my new blog, and have a great week!

Lack of sleep affects my oldest daughter like that too. Her’s isn’t insomia, just if she gets to bed late I can guarantee the next day is going to be non-productive.
I can understand your co-op thoughts as well. We’ve finished our first 3 weeks, and I’m not a bit impressed yet.
Thanks for sharing that its not all rainbows and butterflies at your house! Makes me feel like I’m not so abnormal after all!
