Monday Weigh In

I didn’t post my weigh-in last week for this simple reason: I was +2.4 for the week. This week is different, however, as I was -3.2 lbs., for a total loss of -5.6 thus far.

What did I change? I tried really hard to keep track of my points (still not great there but I am getting better!) AND I decided to do something about my lazy self. :) Since exercise has never been my ‘thing’, I knew I needed to start with what I *CAN* do right now, and that’s walk. I don’t stroll leisurely though. Oh no, my 5-trips-to-the-gym-a-week hubby asks me WHY DO YOU WALK SO FAST? I guess you could call it power walking, but when I think of that term I think of old ladies in pink sweat pants with sun visors, doing weird arm aerobics while they walk! :D That’s not me!!

So I walk, very quickly, jogging alternately as the mood strikes me. I’ve been going right around sundown, after the younger kids are in bed and it is much cooler outside. So far I’ve been doing about 1.5 miles. Eventually I’d like to even jog that whole way, but at this point I’m really happy that I’m walking it. And I am losing weight, which is the whole goal in the first place.

And eventually, I would like to get to a place where I.enjoy.exercise. Not sure how long that will take, but I will work at it slowly.

  • I use this same theme at my blog! You’re the second blog I’ve commented on today that’s using this theme and I keep having to go back to the top to make sure it’s not mine. :-D

Good job on the weight loss. I should probably do something like this – posting my progress in this area – it might help me be more accountable.

Exercise is never fun to begin with. Usually it takes some sort of distraction like music or a TV to get you through it. I think the hardest part with beginning a workout regime is that when you’re not conditioned, it’s difficult to do and easy to give up. That, along with the boredom. Keep it up and keep finding ways to ease into it if you aren’t ready to force yourself to do something you don’t like. Sometimes I put on a few of my favorites songs and dance like a crazy jackass alone until I’m out of breath and working up a sweat!
