Either the concept or the curriculum, let’s chat!
I know teaching cursive first makes more sense, but I’m not sure my kids will be able to do it. My 7yo son thinks cursive looks “bad” and “hard” and doesn’t even want me to write his NAME in cursive.
On the other hand, this is the boy who can’t keep all of his letters on the bottom line, uses capitals in the middle of words, spaces words and letters very inconsistently, and has terrible handwriting. Everything I read tells me he is better off just learning cursive. I have a 6yo son who also struggles with writing. And it would probably be best for him too. And still I don’t know if I can commit.
Here is an interesting article by Samuel L. Blumenfeld about teaching Cursive first.
So what do you think? Pros? Cons?

My five year old struggles with printing, but what five year old doesn’t? I’m planning to keep having her print until second grade when she’s seven. Starting with cursive just seems strange to me, but I can’t think of any real pros or cons either way. I guess I’m just sticking with tradition due to fear of the unknown.
