Croupin' coughin' fun

There’s nothing quite like the sound of a 7 year old with croup. Honk-bark-cough (bark bark), honk-bark-cough (bark bark). The second set of barks was our 3 month old pom puppy, Cleo.

When D1 came into our bedroom in the wee hours of the morning this morning, poor Cleo didn’t know WHAT to think! He sounded awful. And why not? The weather changed from late summer to fall in the last few days, so it’s croup time again. Supposedly, he will grow out of this. When? I have no idea. Any time the weather changes, we look forward to special times in the dark of night, gathered around the nebulizer as we treat & see if we can go back to bed, or we need to get dressed and take a drive to the local ER for some recemic epinephrine.

Last night was one of those get-dressed-and-take-a-drive nights. It’s 8:57am now, and this mom’s ready to go back to bed. D1, however, is running on epi and feels just FINE! Actually, he still sounds a little croupy, so I’ll probably hit him with the nebs again here in a little while. I still have to get his prescription filled for prednisone, which we usually have on hand, but I’m not sure if we even have one full dose left in the bottle we already have. Time to go to the pharmacy.

School? Yes, probably sometime today. Sigh.

  • So sorry y’all have to deal with that.

I tagged you for a meme. Something fun and mindless for your Friday. :) Have a good weekend.

  • Sorry that you had an interrupted nights sleep. I’m feeling blessed that we’ve not really had to deal w/croup here as I have other friends who have, it sure doesn’t sound like any thing I want to deal with.

Hears to a child who out grows this.
