It turns out the Wordly Wise book I got is for a fifth grader, and since J is in seventh, that won’t work. I did look through it, and the words are very simple, too much so to make it work for her. I settled on a Greek & Latin root curriculum called Word Whiz. The cover states that it is for fifth grade to adult. She’ll do three lesson pages per week (Mon-Wed), I’ll take the words and definitions and make a crossword puzzle at PuzzleMaker for Thursday, and she’ll have a quiz on Fridays.
Math got changed too. After considering everything, although I love Saxon and I know J does well with it, I settled on Teaching Textbooks instead. She placed into Pre-Algebra, which is GREAT. I have a friend whose son is using the Pre-Algebra level too, and she offered to lend me the first lecture & solutions CDs. They are nearly into the third set of CDs, so the timing works well for us. I can’t afford to buy the whole curriculum, which is $180.00, but I can afford the textbook & test/solutions book. We’ll just borrow the CDs from from her as they finish them, and it saves us over half the cost of the curriculum, thank goodness!
I must say, since I threw this curriculum together in two days flat, I’ve impressed myself! LOL… Okay, not ‘impressed’, but the Lord was very gracious in giving me what I needed without stress or my typical over-planning.
As I’ve committed this current homeschooling venture to the Lord entirely, He IS showing himself faithful! \o/
