Let’s Talk Music

Since I just sent out a link to this, my new blog, to friends and family, many of whom I haven’t seen or even heard from (hint hint) in a long time, let’s talk music. I bring up a topic about myself because I usually write about my kids. :) Many of ya remember my 80′s heavy metal days, and my late 80′s early 90′s more mellow hippy music days (LOL Wow, well, yeah…) So what do I listen to these days?

I’m a Christian. I am born again, I believe in the Bible (yes every word) and I still have a thang for that heavier type music. Who said Christians have to listen to organ music?  Thankfully those days are long gone!  I put a link on the sidebar to Air1, which is a great online radio station. They play Christian rock (no I’m NOT talking Stryper here guys). Check it out, you’ll be surprised. My current favs are Third Day, Jeremy Camp, Relient K, Hawk Nelson, P.O.D., Todd Agnew, Switchfoot, and Skillet. When I’m feeling mellow, I love Chris Rice, Rich Mullins, Bob Carlisle, Rachel Lampa, and Rebecca St. James. Not much secular music comes through my stereo these days, although I do tune it in sometimes. (OK I listen to the 80′s station off & on but come on, how many times can they play the same stupid Duran Duran & Boy George songs??????? I didn’t like that stuff the first time around!!) Oh yea, and I REALLY like Scott Stapp’s new solo CD!

My stepson, featured with the mohawk below, listens to all those plus a lot more hardcore stuff like Demon Hunter, rap (KJ52 and Toby Mac), and others.

My hubby is a 70′s dude at heart, although he’s only a few years older than me, and likes 70′s music (Moody Blues, Paul Simon, Queen, Billy Joel). Two complete opposites we are, as far as music is concerned. I like some of it, tolerate others, and leave the room sometimes! LOL I draw the line at Barry Manilow– sorry, can’t do it. :P

So what are you all listening to these days?

This is only the second blog I’ve visited. Good for you, Dawn. You have learned a lot of computer skills. Nothing too exciting going on here. Fred and I recently spent another week at Camp Parsons (on Hood Canal) babysitting the camp while the director was off hunting. It’s always a beautiful, peaceful (in the off-season) place to spend time. We took Mom and Doris to see the first of the season’s plays at Carco Theatre in Renton Saturday night. The four of us have season tickets, along with Dan and Sandy. We always have front row seats so that Mom can hear pretty well. Often they do comedies, which the ladies especially enjoy.

    What does LOL stand for?

    Keep up the good work!

    Barb
